T_us and T_{hyd_91_obs} are the turbidities observed at the upstream end of modelled pipe reaches, T_{inter_obs} are turbidities observed at intermediate points along the mains and T_ds and T_{flush_wo_obs} are the turbidities at the downstream extent of the modelled pipes. T_{ds_pred_i} (for i ∈{0 … 4}) are the turbidity predictions generated by five PSO runs per dataset (sometimes sufficiently similar such that only T_{ds_pred_4} appears to be plotted)
